The Peruvian Anchovy, peladilla (youngsters) or Engraulis ringens is a Clupeidae family, located in the genre Engraulius, is a fish with long cylindrical body, wide and silver colored mouth being one of the most important pelagic species due to the large volumes of annual catch. They live in ocean waters whose temperature is between 14.5 and 20 ° C. The anchovy lives between 3 or 4 years old and as adults, reaches a length of between 12 and 16 centimeters. They breed at any time of year, however, the major spawning occurring, one in late winter and another in late summer. They feed on plankton abundant on our coast, which is the result of the Peruvian Current.
